2018 Kia Sorento vs 2018 Toyota 4Runner in Waipahu, HI

2018 Kia Sorento vs 2018 Toyota 4Runner in Waipahu, HIPictured left is the 2018 Kia Sorento with optional features.

Cozy Interior of the 2018 Kia Sorento

The rising popularity of the midsize crossover segment means there’s never been a greater variety of available models. However, this can also make it difficult to know which vehicle is just right for you. To help with your decision, Aloha Kia has compared the fantastic 2018 Kia Sorento with the 2018 Toyota 4Runner. Let’s see who comes out on top!

If you’re looking for an efficient ride, the Kia Sorento won’t disappoint. It achieves an efficient 21/28 MPG city/hwy1 fuel economy. In comparison, the 2018 Toyota 4Runner only manages 17/20 MPG city/hwy1—significantly less efficient than the Kia. The Sorento also features a more-lively powertrain, only taking 7.1 seconds to go from 0-60 MPH, as opposed to the 7.5 seconds the 4Runner takes. While not a huge difference at first glance, this can mean the difference between merging smoothly onto the freeway, and inducing certain road rage on the person behind you. On the flip side, to bring the Sorento to a full stop, you’ll need 174 ft. of roadway when travelling 70 MPH2. Toyota’s model requires 183 ft., which is significant in the event that a sudden stop is necessary.

Like most of us, the 2018 Sorento puts a premium on safety. The same cannot be said for the 4Runner. Kia’s model features a wide variety of available safety options including Lane Departure Warning3, Forward Collision Warning4, Advanced Smart Cruise Control5, and many others. Incredibly, the Toyota does not offer any of these features. Like the Sorento, the 4Runner includes a rear back up camera6, but even this feature fails to match the Kia. While the Sorento’s camera includes intelligent grids that move with your steering wheel for more dynamic guidance assistance, the Toyota’s guidelines are static, making the system less intuitive and less effective than the Kia’s.

Because so many people use their crossover as an adventure vehicle, Kia has designed the 2018 Sorento to be equipped with plenty of features to keep its passengers cozy and entertained. Once again, the 2018 4Runner can’t keep up. Long rides can become tedious, so Kia includes available Android Auto™7 and Apple CarPlay™8 in the Sorento to make those hours pass by in no time at all. The 4Runner does not offer these features at any trim level. Additionally, the Sorento provides three USB ports to the Toyota’s single port. When you have a car full of teens needing to keep phones and tablets charged, that makes a huge difference!

When you compare the 2018 Kia Sorento vs 2018 Toyota 4Runner in Waipahu, HI, there’s no question as to who is the victor. Boasting more safety and technology features, you can’t go wrong with the Sorento. Come visit us at Aloha Kia and learn more about this great crossover by speaking with one of our friendly staff members!

Husband and I loved working with Brad. Approached us ready to help us find the right vehicle but gave us privacy when we needed to think and discuss. Available on his cell phone for questions and did additional research to help us find the right fit.
