2017 Kia Optima vs 2017 Ford Fusion in Lihue, HI

Interior of the 2017 Kia Optima

2017 Kia Optima vs 2017 Ford Fusion in Lihue, HIPictured right is the 2017 Kia Optima with optional features.

Choosing the right family sedan can be difficult with so many options currently available. At Aloha Kia, we want to make sure you drive away in a vehicle that suits your needs exactly. So for your convenience, we’re comparing the 2017 Kia Optima to the 2017 Ford Fusion to see how Kia stacks up.

Looking at engine performance, it’s clear that the Optima outpaces the Fusion. With a larger standard 2.4L engine that produces 185-hp, compared to Ford’s 175-hp, it easily overtakes its competitor. In addition, the Optima boasts a more efficient fuel economy as well. The sedan from Kia achieves a very respectable 25/36 MPG city/hwy1 rating, while Ford’s model can only maintain 21/32 MPG city/hwy1. This means that you can drive longer in the Kia without having to stop for fuel, keeping the adventure going without interruption. In fact, it has a highway range of 666 miles2 on a full tank of gas, easily outmatching the Fusion’s range of 528 miles2. When it comes to performance, the 2017 Optima leaves no doubt that it’s head and shoulders above the 2017 Fusion.

Inside the respective vehicles, you and your passengers will also have more room in the Optima to stretch out and relax than in the Fusion. In Kia’s model, you’ll enjoy 39.8 in. of head room up front, while your passengers in back will have 45.5 in. of space. Ford, in comparison, falls short, only offering 39.2 in. and 44.3 in. for the same categories. Overall, the cabin of the Optima has 104.8 in.2 of passenger volume, while the Fusion only provides 102.8 in.2. During those long car rides that start to feel cramped after a while, you’ll definitely notice and appreciate Kia’s more spacious and accommodating interior. After several hours behind the wheel, the less complaining from those in the backseat, the better for everyone!

Speaking of long road trips, when it comes to keeping passengers entertained, the 2017 Fusion doesn’t come close to the 2017 Optima. To start, Kia offers standard SiriusXM®3 satellite radio, so you never have to deal with losing the signal. Ford only provides this at higher, and more expensive, trim levels. Additionally, in the Optima, you’ll enjoy your audio through six standard speakers, while you’ll only get four speakers in the Fusion. Need to make a phone call? With the Kia, you can sync your compatible device with standard Bluetooth®4 capability and make hands-free calls right from the driver’s seat. With no such available technology in the Ford, it looks like you’ll be pulling over to the side of the road instead.

We hope that this model comparison of the 2017 Kia Optima vs 2017 Ford Fusion in Lihue, HI, has shed some light on all the incredible things the Optima can do. Interested in learning more? There’s no better way than visiting Aloha Kia for a test drive today. We’d love to see you soon!
